Polo clubs throughout NZ and including the Auckland Polo Club, Hololio Polo Club, Mystery Creek Polo, Bombay Hills Polo Club, have been pivotal in creating an environment where women can thrive and compete alongside their male counterparts. This inclusive approach has led to a surge in female membership, with around 33% of players today being women, not only participating as players but also taking on leadership roles within their clubs. The rise of female polo players is a testament to the clubs' commitment to diversity. Breaking Barriers: Women in Polo The rise of female polo players in New Zealand can be attributed to several factors: Increased Visibility and Role Models: With the emergence of talented female players on the New Zealand and international stages, young girls now have role models to look up to. Female players showcasing their skills and achievements on local and international stage help inspire the next generation to take up the sport. Media coverage of women’s polo is essential in helping to inspire young players to the sport in this social media age. Video and photography coverage helps showcase the skill of the athletes and inspire younger generations to take up the sport.. 2.
